Lessons Learned Week 2

  1. The Big Ten is absolutely terrible! This weekend was a huge chance for the conference to make some strides and improve their reputation around the country. However, they laid a big fat egg! Ohio State got demolished by Virginia Tech at home, Michigan State hung with Oregon for a half but ended up losing by nearly 20, Michigan got a good old fashioned ass whipping at the hands of Notre Dame, Central Michigan beat Purdue by 21, Northern Illinois beat Northwestern, and Nebraska only beat lowly McNeese State by 7. Can somebody just please de-mote the whole Big Ten to FCS?
  2. Mariotta had a good showing against Michigan State and put himself in the Heisman conversation. I still have Todd “GODDAMN” Gurley hoisting the hardware in December, but Mariotta made some strides Saturday.
  3. The best performance of the weekend goes to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish! Notre Dame beat the brakes off Michigan. From the opening kickoff to the final buzzer, Notre Dame was in control of all facets of this game. With Everrett Golson leading this offense Notre Dame is a force to be reckoned with.
  4. TEXAS SUCKS AGAIN! Obviously 247Sports, Rivals, and Scout have no idea what a 5 star high school kid looks like! According to all three of these recruiting websites the Texas Longhorns have more 5 star recruits on their roster than all but three teams. Charlie Strong is a good coach, this I know to be true. Something is wrong at Texas and I can’t even put my mind around it right now.
  5. USC is for real! I had Stanford being slightly down, but I still thought it would be hard for USC to come into their stadium and win. USC had chances to run away with the game multiple times but kept shooting themselves in the foot. After watching UCLA the past two weeks, USC is starting to become my favorite out of the PAC 12 South.
  6. My updated playoff teams are: 1.Florida State, 2. Auburn, 3. Oregon, and 4. Oklahoma.
